if you never knew, Matt and I were actually pretty serious about going into the field of art before we decided to change our minds. we were both going to become illustrators/animators. we visited an institution in Philadelphia as well.
the main reason why we changed our minds was the exact reasons why your parents are concerned. the price to go to an art school is pho-nominal. get it? pho. anyways, and the opening jobs for art careers are very limited. you will always have to work your way below to get to the top, there is no such thing as simply becoming an animator right after. and even so, as we can look into the past with our present knowledge, we both understand that we couldn't have been able to live our lives that way. we can't really draw for the rest of our lives and we probably would've grew further away from our ministry.
but in your position, it's not really good to listen to us. you should really do what you like but from a perspective point of view. can you do that forever, etc etc. because we have both gone to college and taken art courses, we realize it's not really for us. our hobby is to draw but when you're constricted or limited to what you have to draw just to pass the class, those are the times when we or myself hate art. and even in your line of work you will have to do what your boss tells you to do or draw. but If you like art in all aspects, go for it.
remember, in college you can always change your major and take any class you want. it's a golden opportunity, so just leave your options open.

yeah. thanks for the advice. i really need it. ive been thinking that i will go to art school. but maybe a little after i finish majoring in a different field. i know my life would be hard trying to find a job with that degree. but its ok. art is my life. even though im not so good at it. its very important to me. so yeah. im thinking of going for something like accounting or something like that. and then ill major in art. then i could have a side job along with accounting. haha. so i guess its all good now. but i just have to face explaining it to my parents. they wont allow it. but like i said. since art is my life, ill do it. haha.
