It is that different feeling from being the one in the stands to the one on the stage that moves you. It is that feeling of shivers and excitement when the music is ringing in your ears where nothing else is conceivable except music itself and your passion. It's not about showing off, it's not about playing perfectly but when you hit that riff and chord perfectly in unison as not different individuals but as one band, it sends chills down your spine that no other experience could bring. And once you get through the bridge, you hit that solo you have been practicing over and over as your friend is hammering away on the drums. You are nervous and fall alittle off track but it is all good cause you are in the zone so you follow it through nonetheless while the crowd is feeling your rythm. This is the moment that portrays that you are the music and not just the listener. Your mind is now changed into a feeling that when you listen to music, it is no longer that you just want to listen; you are thinking of being able to play such music and being the one who can give such experiences you have had when you were once just a listener or that you want to be even greater than what you have heard.
If you feel the calling, join Kao's youth worship ministry. I'm sure it's not for everyone but really all it takes is devotion and commitment. I believe everyone is capable of doing anything, including playing an instrument. It is all in the mind whether you really want to or not. Of course you have to "suck" in order to get better. You have to start from the bottom. You don't have to play the guitar only. There are more possibilities than that, whether it'd be voice, drums, bass, guitar, piano, or even everything. Your capabilities lie in your devotion and practice.
I highly recommend females to step up to the plate because I feel many want to but simply give it up to allow others to pursue it or they feel it is "probably" not their ministry. Come on, I can't think of anything more awesome than a female electric guitarist hitting riffs that I can or can't. And it's not to say that I'm even an amateur at what I do, I'm still a beginner. I'm not trying to say you should just join because it seems cool, I just want everyone to follow their intuition and not let worldly situational habits get to them.
So if you feel the need to Rock out, I recommend you take action and allow these opportunities to help you. There is a possibility that there will be another band in our church, it could be you. If you don't like what the present band is playing, here is also a chance for you to show us something different. Your actions could be what this church or church's in general have been waiting for all this time.
Whether or not you are interested, you must think to yourself that there is a greater purpose for everyone whether in great proportions or small. There is no such thing that you can't do or try to do. Do not rely on others to move you, make your own path. Like it is said, God gave you free will, so please use it.
Nonetheless I believe in all of you, not your weaknesses but your capabilities. God Bless.
