No Fair
I don’t believe that we should be fair anymore. If we were to be fair all the time, we wouldn’t want to do more than we really could.
God is not fair. But it’s a good thing. Grace and redemption cannot possibly be fair, because then we would not be able to receive it. If God was fair, Jesus would not have had to die for us. If God is fair, we should not be forgiven. We don’t deserve any of this. We don’t deserve to be forgiven. It’s not fair. So, do we really still want things to be fair?
In the same concept of fairness, do not be fair in giving. Give without ceasing -- without limiting oneself to be fair. If a friend offers me money, I should not merely give back the same amount because I owe him. Through the examples set by Jesus, I should give back more. If you expect something in return when offering, then it is no longer a genuine act. This is just an example. I have yet to live a life unfair.
Fairness and balance are characteristics of nature. These characteristics do not apply to our God. He is beyond this limitation. He is better than fair. Better than balanced. Unfairness is what makes grace possible. We should not live in nature. Rather, we should be living in Him.

Hmm it sounds like you have given this much thought. What exactly does the word fair mean? To me it means equality. So when you say we should not be fair, it almost sounds like we should be or give less. And I know that is not what you mean. Although in some parts it confused me, I think I agree? We should not be just fair, but be more than fair. Give more than we receive. Do more than is required. Something like that. I think? :-)

Yes...what I meant by that is to give more than what we receive. That should have clear by the tone and subject of the content. Thanks for commenting.
